Turkesterone is the primary bioactive compound in the plant Ajuga Turkestanica. It has a long history of use for testosterone, and muscle support and belongs to the adaptogen herbal class. 

Turkesterone is an ecdysteroid, which is commonly found in arthropods and insects, but may also be found in certain plant species. Ecdysteroids can be compared to testosterone, due to their ability to induce growth. They do not bind to the androgen receptors, which eliminates many negative side effects seen with other anabolic products.
